This week we're delighted to interview two awesome young readers, Phoebe Haslam
(age 7), who reads around five hours a day, and her sister Sylvie Haslam (age 5).
KB: If you were going on a trip to mars and could only take one book which would it be and why?
Phoebe: One of the Little House on the Prairie Books. I like everything in them.
Sophie: If I Built A Car
KB: The one you're holding by Chris Van Dusen? That is an an awesome book! Do you have a favorite part?
Sylvie: The Wiener Mobile.
KB: Phoebe, as a great reader what advice would you give to authors to help them write the best books possible.
Phoebe: Well, the best thing about reading books is the end. That's the most fun part of reading. But some of the best books just end suddenly, the're just over all of a sudden. I wish they would have kept going longer.
KB: I know what you mean. The author of one of my favorite books, The Lord of the Rings, which you can see is pretty long, said that the one fault everyone agreed on, including himself, was that "The Book is too short." That's a great point Phoebe. Thanks so much!
Here they are! Our weekly picks for the two best: two hardcover, two paperback, and two children's books. The very best new arrivals to leap out of the box and onto our shelves this week. Call or email us if you want more information on any of these titles, or to have us hold you a copy. Or stop in and check them out in person. We'd love to see you. Thanks as always for sharing your reading with us!
